Happy Halloween from the Alexandrians…

We have officially arrived at the spookiest month of the year. With pumpkins, dress-up and funky nail art, Alexandrians have left no stone unturned to up the spooky quotient.

A fun-filled day at the academy with costumes and many other unseen, unheard guests *BOOOooooooo*

The school has transformed itself into dungeons of fear and we are making sure every alley is covered with a ghost friend!

The history of Halloween!

Halloween is a holiday celebrated on the 31st of October every year. The tradition originated from the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, where people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts.

According to Celtic mythology, the veil between this world and the other worlds thinned down during this night. This means that it makes it easier for spirits and departed ancestors to return. As a result, people use this time to get on the good side of the departed ones by offering them food.

Halloween has now become a day filled with activities like trick-or-treating, pumpkin carving, events, and gatherings, playing dress up as ghosts and zombies and eating treats. Modern-day trick-or-treating is an amalgamation of various traditions.

Ancient Celts dressed up as evil spirits to confuse demons. In medieval Europe, dressing up in disguises and visiting neighbours while dancing and doing tricks were popular on major feast days.

Modern-day trick-or-treating started off in the early 1920s.
