Marketing and Admissions Officer

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The role of the Marketing and Admissions Officer will be to guide Alexander Academy’s marketing efforts in the countries that are assigned. The Officer will represent the College by conducting presentations, providing advice to prospective students with respect to academic programs, admission procedures, and registration procedures, and imparting knowledge of the resources, facilities, and opportunities available to students of Alexander Academy.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Report to the Director of Admissions

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-time, Permanent

WORK WEEK: The Marketing and Admissions Officer is expected to work during regular business hours, Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm, for a total of 40 hours per week.

LOCATION: Alexander Academy

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Post-secondary education, minimum of a bachelor’s degree equivalence
  • Minimum of 3 years work experience working in a similar role
  • Knowledge of the BC K-12 system
  • International business or education experience

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Enrollment Requirement: The Marketing and Admissions Officer may have an annual enrollment quota and/or target set out by the Director of Admissions.

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Build strategic relationship with agencies, and other stakeholder groups in both local and overseas
  • Meet with and enroll students based on their educational specifications & requirements
  • Liaise with agents for enrollment and marketing purposes
  • Travel to various international destinations for educational fairs and agency meetings for College purposes
  • Promote Alexander Academy’s educational programs through Social Media and other online applications
  • Assist the Director of Admissions in conceiving, implementing, administering, and evaluating marketing plans
  • Assist with all aspects of planning of all student events including: orientations, graduations, and all academic and social events
  • Able to maintain cooperative relationships with schools, universities, community organizations and other institutions
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Admissions

DIGITAL MARKETING JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop content for website, blogs, and marketing collateral
  • Integrate social media communications with the Alexander Academy website
  • Conduct research and analysis, gather information, write articles and stories, edit content, and adapt material to online format, tone, voice and style
  • Produce online media analysis, activities and design on every facet of Online Marketing Campaigns and report Marketing ROI Metrics and input into the Internal Customer Relationship Management (CRM)
  • Participate and produce content for newsletter and email campaign and manage Social Media requirements
  • Manage ongoing processes and tasks associated with SEO and CRM system

Head of School

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Head of School serves as the educational leader who is responsible for managing the policies, regulations, and procedures to ensure that all students are supervised in a safe and positive learning environment that meets the approved curricula and mission of the school.

Achieving academic excellence requires that the Head of School works collaboratively to direct and nurture all members of the school staff hired by the Board of Directors (the Board) and communicates effectively with parents. Inherent in the position are the responsibilities for liaison with the Board, course scheduling, curriculum development, educational and operational procedures, extracurricular activities, personnel evaluation and management, emergency procedures, and facility operations. The Head of School reports to the Board and is the representative of the Board in its relations with the faculty, staff, students and the patrons of the school.

JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Organizational Leader

  • Supports Board initiatives in special projects and strategic planning.
  • As a non-voting member of the Board, provides key status updates and collaborates with the Board to refine long term strategic plans and establish policies and processes to accomplish the mission.
  • Handles expenditures and budget with School Finance to satisfy financial obligations.
  • Acts as the school’s voice in the community and educational associations to enhance the school’s reputation.
  • Provides visible, relational, and moral leadership for the faculty, students, and overall school community.
  • Attends to the intellectual, moral, social, emotional and physical growth of each child, and cooperates with faculty and each child’s parent(s) in these efforts.
  • Builds and trains a highly qualified and effective faculty and staff.
  • Manages Alexander Academy’s educational program, operating finances, facility, administrative staff, and duties.
  • Works collaboratively with the Enrollment and Admission team, Human Resources team, and Finance team.
  • Supports the Admissions Committee by meeting with prospective students and parents, assessing student readiness and providing recommendations to the committee.
  • Ensures best practices are achieved in all aspects of the daily operation, instruction, and other activities of the school.
  • Oversees the daily overall operation of the school, administrative staff and office functions.
  • Engages with teachers, students, parents and staff to understand and proactively manage issues and concerns before they escalate. Communicates openly and frequently with the Board.
  • Supervises planning of an appropriate program for university guidance and admissions.
  • Oversees school activities to ensure educational goals and outcomes are met.

Educational Leader

  • Ensures compliance with all laws, Board policies and civil regulations.
  • Meets all BC Ministry of Education requirements, including all data submissions, in a timely manner.
  • Ensures implementation of a quality instructional program, including teachers’ course outlines, daily lesson planning, quality classroom practice and student assessment and reporting.
  • Maintains an educational program that meets all BC Ministry of Education requirements, e.g. courses offered, subject time requirements, course content, a variety of teaching strategies/learning activities, assessment methods, performance standards, achievement indicators and provincial learning outcomes.
  • Establishes an annual master schedule for instructional programs, ensuring sequential learning experiences for students consistent with the School’s philosophy, mission statement and desired School and provincial learning outcomes.
  • Supervises the instructional programs of the school, encourages the use of a variety of instructional strategies and materials consistent with research on best practice in teaching and learning.
  • Implements a system of meaningful teacher assessment and professional growth planning, including regular classroom observations and follow-up. Keeps the Board advised of employees not meeting their contractual obligations or desired performance standards.
  • Implements a plan of on-going, meaningful professional development for teachers.
  • Establishes procedures for evaluation and selection of instructional materials and equipment, and for approving recommendations.
  • Supervises the development and implementation of an extracurricular program and activities.

Students

  • Leads all-school assemblies.
  • Establishes and promotes high standards of behaviour for all students in accordance with our code of conduct and general discipline policies.
  • Implements an effective discipline system that ensures a safe and orderly environment and encourages students to take responsibility for their behaviour.
  • Manages the academic and intellectual progress of students and regularly reviews student assessment data with teachers.
  • Develops relationships with individual students to ensure each child’s uniqueness is nurtured and character is developed.

Parents and Community

  • Reinforces a positive school culture and the mission statement at PAC Meetings and Parent Orientation.
  • Contributes pertinent articles to local media to strengthen community understanding of and commitment to the Academy.
  • Makes recommendations to parents for evaluation of student speech, behavior, and learning needs as necessary.
  • Communicates with parents regarding significant events, policy changes, and curricular issues/changes/enhancements.
  • Provides a sounding board for parents to voice ideas, questions, and concerns about Alexander Academy through both an “open door” policy and scheduled opportunities (e.g., Coffee with the Head of School).
  • Helps to discreetly mitigate any conflict that arises between parents, parents/teachers, and parents/students.
