Message from the Head of School

Welcome to Alexander Academy and thank you for visiting our website.

As Head of School, what I value most about our school is the way a close-knit community can create great opportunities for students. In the heart of Downtown Vancouver, our students come from 30+ different countries, cultures, and backgrounds, bringing with them their unique personal and cultural experiences, interests, and ambitions. They learn together, challenge one another, and become part of a community where they are genuinely known.

Alexander Academy is a fully accredited, independent, co-educational Grade 10–12 university transfer school offering several programs: the High School Graduation Program, University Pathway Program, English Language Development Program, High-Performance Program, and Short-Term Program. Students have the option to take one or more of these programs depending on their interests and academic level. For students seeking an accelerated pathway, our school also provides opportunities for direct transfer into college and university programs.

Our small classes make a real difference. Teachers connect well with their students, understand their unique needs, and provide the individual attention and support they need. Our staff work closely with students not only in the classroom, but also through academic support, tutorials, graduation planning, university counselling, and post-secondary applications.

Our four core values, Engagement, Empathy, Respect, and Integrity, are visible in everyday school life. They shape how we treat each other, how we approach learning, and how we contribute to our community. Students also have opportunities to grow outside the classroom through clubs, sports, leadership activities, and volunteer experiences.

For our students, the next step is university. We are proud that our graduates receive scholarships and offers from top-ranked universities worldwide.

While our academic programs and university outcomes are important, they are only part of the Alexander Academy experience. What matters just as much is the environment in which students achieve them: a school where teachers know their students at an individual level, where students have opportunities to explore their interests, and where a diverse international community becomes part of everyday learning.

Our Downtown Vancouver location, close to Waterfront Station, places students in the centre of one of Canada’s most vibrant cities while maintaining the close-knit feel of a school community. Within the school building, students also have access to university-level science laboratories and an Artificial Intelligence Hub — the Alexander Innovation Centre.
