October Fun and Learning at Alexander Academy Vancouver: Beach Cleanups, Arts, and More!
Written by Alexander Academy in Amazing Alexandrians, Blog on October 28, 2025
October at Alexander Academy was full of energy, learning, and excitement. Our students, staff, and families came together for events celebrating teamwork, creativity, and growth. From environmental action to arts exploration and academic planning, the month highlighted our school’s vibrant community.
We started the month with a Shoreline Beach Cleanup at Kitsilano Beach in Vancouver. Students, staff, and volunteers worked together to care for the environment. They collected over 2,000 pieces of garbage, leaving the beach cleaner and safer. After the cleanup, students enjoyed pizza, sports, and a lively game of tug-of-war. These activities combined service with fun, strengthening teamwork and camaraderie.
Creativity took center stage with a field trip to Emily Carr University, celebrating the university’s 100-year milestone. Students explored art exhibitions and engaged with interactive digital graffiti. The experience encouraged them to experiment with new artistic techniques and think creatively. Additionally, visiting the university gave students a glimpse of post-secondary life and further inspired them to explore their own passions.
Our Parent Night brought families into the heart of Alexander Academy. Parents learned about school programs, observed their children’s progress, and met teachers one-on-one. This evening allowed families to engage directly with educators and understand their children’s learning journey. Parent Night strengthened the partnership between home and school, fostering open communication and collaboration.
The month’s excitement continued with our University Fair, hosting over 25 universities. Students explored a variety of programs and asked representatives questions about admission, campus life, and academic opportunities. They compared options and discovered programs that aligned with their interests. The University Fair helped students plan for their futures and prepared them to make informed academic decisions.
Throughout October, students learned beyond the classroom. They practiced leadership, creativity, and social awareness. They experienced growth in ways that academic lessons alone cannot provide. Environmental stewardship, artistic exploration, and academic planning helped students develop a strong sense of responsibility and curiosity. In addition, these experiences reflect Alexander Academy’s holistic approach to education, highlighting both personal and academic growth.
October also highlighted the importance of community. Students, teachers, parents, and university representatives collaborated to create meaningful experiences. Students engaged actively with the world around them. They learned empathy, teamwork, and problem-solving. These opportunities strengthened connections within our school and the wider community.
As we reflect on October, we celebrate the spirit of community, creativity, and connection. From environmental cleanups to interactive art exhibits, from family engagement to university planning, our students embraced learning in many forms. These experiences lay a foundation for personal growth and academic success.
At Alexander Academy, we continue to provide opportunities that encourage students to explore, create, and connect. October reminded us that learning happens everywhere, not just in classrooms. Our students thrived when given hands-on experiences and meaningful interactions.
